Greg Bales

BALES, Greg 57 of Lutz, Florida passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017. He was born in Dayton, Ohio and moved to Florida in 1967. If you knew him, you loved him and you were sure of his love for you. He laughed loud with his whole body and gave the best hugs. He was generous with his time and kind words and understanding- he gave whatever he could when he saw a need. Greg loved spending time with his family- he often referred to his girls as his world. He also loved the theatre and his 20/20 Drama family- they brought such joy and support to his life. He enjoyed listening to music and going to concerts; Hillsong United was especially meaningful to him. He always looked forward to football season so he could cheer on the Bucs. He enjoyed playing video games and loved anything comic book-related; sometimes when he was feeling especially silly he’d go by Thor. He welcomed new people into his life like he’d never known a stranger. He was selfless and kind and he loved people well, the way Jesus did. He was an electrical engineer for TECO and an active member of Life Church. He was preceded in death by his father, John McKinley Bales. Greg is survived by his daughters, Leah Hutchison and her husband, Daniel, Hannah Bales, Moriah Bales and their mother, Teresa Bales; mother, Goldie Bales; brother, John A. Bales; sister, Karen and her husband Larry Baldwin. Known as Poppy to his granddaughter, Emma Hutchison, who he adored and who adored him right back. A Celebration of Life will take place at Life Church in Wesley Chapel on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. In honor of Greg, the family has requested that everyone wear their favorite plaid or bright colored shirt.
