Cora Lee Campbell
August 22nd, 1924 - July 28th, 2017
Cora Lee Tison Campbell, beloved wife of John Lee Campbell for the past 70 years, leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and a lifetime of good works. Cora was loved, admired, and respected by all who had the good fortune to know her. Cora was a fifth generation Florida Pioneer. Her ancestors were integral in establishing Florida as a state in 1845. She was a member of the Joseph McDowell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and had multiple ancestors who helped to bring about the United States of America. “Yea, I have a goodly heritage.” Cora was an active member of The Orange Blossom Garden Club of Lutz and the Keystone Service (Homemakers) Club. Throughout the years, Cora held several officer positions in both organizations and served with professionalism and grace. She was a staunch Democrat who believed in justice and equality for all. To Cora, family always came first and foremost. She was very active in her daughters’ lives; she served as PTA President, Citrus Park Elementary School Carnival Chairperson, and Classroom Mother many times. She also worked with the Brownie Scouts, the Girl Scouts and 4-H Clubs. Cora was a powerful and positive role model and motivator. She possessed a vibrant and enthusiastic spirit. She believed in always doing your best and set high standards for herself, her children and grandchildren. She never complained and always spoke kindly of others. In addition to her husband, John, she leaves behind three daughters who adored and cherished her: Susan Squires (John), Pamela Campbell-Peralta (Julio), and Brenda George. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Jonathan Squires (Jes), Sarah George, and Landon Stanley. In addition, she is remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews, wonderful friends and sweet neighbors. Cora was a kind, generous, thoughtful, considerate, and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She believed in and lived her life according to the Golden Rule and taught her children and grandchildren accordingly. When Cora’s spirit went before her maker, we know that a crown of glory was placed upon her head. You will always be with us and until we are together again, God bless you Dearest Cora, most sweet mother, and precious grandmother! “If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together…there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger that you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we are apart…I’ll always be with you.” – Winnie the Pooh A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Loyless Funeral Home.
