GUSMINI, (Neville) Katherine Mary “Kay” 78, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Saturday, November 25, 2017 after a brave fight against cancer. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Land O’ Lakes, Florida in 2004. Kay was a member at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tampa. Kay started her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. After raising her family, she went back to work as a Registered Nurse at Kathleen Daniel Nursing Center. The love between Kay and Lou was meant to be. The two were baptized on the same day and have known each other since second grade. In eighth grade, Kay told her mother that she was going to marry Lou. They were crowned King and Queen of their senior prom. Kay and Lou married at Our Lady Help of Christians in Newton, Massachusetts. The couple celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in May 2017. Others always came first for Kay. She enjoyed butterfly and bird watching as well as quilting and sewing, as she was very crafty. Kay loved to make blankets for a local pregnancy center. One of Kay’s favorite things was to make her famous Toll House cookies and was excited to be able to share her recipe with her grandchildren to carry on the tradition. Another favorite project of Kay’s was making Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren every year- Santas for her grandsons and angels for her granddaughters. Over the last few years, she became a very avid player of Words with Friends. Kay could always be seen with a can of Diet Coke in hand. Family and friends were very important to Kay and she loved spending time with them. Kay is preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret (McDermott) Neville. She is survived by her husband, of 56 years, Lou; four sons, Paul Gusmini and his partner, Diane Henderson, Bob Gusmini and his wife, Kris, Dave Gusmini and his wife, Robin, and Steve Gusmini and his wife, Lois; one daughter, Amy Talburt and her husband, Dave; one brother, Jack Neville and his wife, Judy; one sister, Jane Iacopucci; 13 grandchildren, Dominic, Christopher, Shannon, Keith, Sarah, Nicole, Gianna, Lauren, Dylan, Trevor, Alison, Ryan, and Andrew.
