A Life Tribute Funeral Care - Largo
Virginia Jewell Helke
March 6th, 1929 - February 7th, 2016
86, of Largo, passed away on Feb. 07, 2016 at Palm Garden of Pinellas. Born and raised in Ironwood, MI on March 06, 1929, she then moved to Teaneck, NJ. Her career was based in New York City; where she was a secretary in the Lincoln building. Virginia was very proud of her work. She often reminisced about her long commute to and from work, which was a subway ride then another six blocks of walking after that. Finally she'd make it to her destination on the 52nd floor where she could "see the world." In 1947 Virginia moved to Wausau, WI and met her husband, Charles. In 1949 they were married and have been married for 67 years. She always enjoyed helping people and served as a hospital healthcare volunteer for 23 yrs. Virginia was a former member of the Zor Temple Auxiliary for Crippled Children. She joined the Eastern Star in 1949. After her husband's retirement in 1990; she and Charles moved to Florida. Virginia is survived by her husband, Charles of Largo, FL; daughter, Lynn Helke of Largo, FL; sister, Betty Williams of Wausau, WI; and a number of nieces. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Shriner's Hospital for Children, 12502 USF Pine Dr., Tampa, FL 33612.
