84. Died peacefully at home in Dunedin, Florida on Monday, March 7, 2016. After his retirement, John split his time between Warren, Vermont and Dunedin. The former employee of General Electric was born October 11, 1931 in Lochgilphead, Scotland. The son of Helen Auld Smith attended Milford High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. An avid golfer, John was also a friend to everyone he met and beloved by every member of his family. He is survived by his four daughters, Laurie, Donna, Margaret and Becky, and all eight of his beloved grandchildren. Also surviving is his former wife, Norma Mitchell. A service in his memory will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 10 am at the Trinity Episcopal Church on Main Street in Newtown, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
