John O'Brien

O’BRIEN Jr., John Austin, 79, of Lutz, Florida passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island and moved to Lutz, Florida from West Warwick, Rhode Island in 1991. John served in the United States Navy and was a firefighter for 32 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Land O’ Lakes, Florida. John loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a huge fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and the Boston Red Sox. John collected baseball cards and enjoyed coloring to relax. He will always be remembered as a proud provider. John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Loretta O’ Brien; baby daughter, Kerrie; and two brothers, Edward and Raymond O’Brien. He is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Eileen; four sons, John O’Brien and his wife, Deborah of West Warwick, Rhode Island, Timothy O’Brien and his wife, Brenda of Lake Wales, Florida, Thomas O’Brien and his wife, Tina of Hollywood, Florida, Robert O’Brien and his wife, Tricia of Lutz, Florida; daughter, Cathleen Schley and her husband, Brian of Sarasota, Florida; seven grandchildren, Jenn, Tom, Kelly, John, Brianna, Kayla, and Tia; and six great grandchildren. A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Sarasota National Cemetery. Words of comfort may be expressed for John’s family by clicking “Share a Memory”.
