Raymond Wood

WOOD, Raymond Douglas, 70, of Wesley Chapel, FL, passed away March 4, 2018. He was born in Tampa, FL. Raymond served in the U.S. Army and later in life his career took him to working for James A. Haley VA as a sheet metal worker for 24 years. He enjoyed using his artistic talent by making many beautiful sheet metal sculptures, many of which he gave to family and friends. Raymond enjoyed reading and learning about history with an extensive history book collection which he often received as presents. He also enjoyed playing pool, going fishing and hunting. Raymond also loved collecting beer steins. He loved his coffee and would drink it all day even on a hot summer day. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lena Wood. He is survived by his fiancé and life partner in crime, Sandy Russell; son, Doug Wood and his wife, Clara and their daughter, Mya; stepson, Philip; step daughter, Emilie; granddaughter, Mya Wood; step grandchildren, Jazz, Branden and Brittany; sister, Diane Couey; niece, Dana Cain; great niece, Ashley; great nephews, Nick and Chase; his dog, Lucy. A funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Loyless Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
