Alfred "Al" Brunette
November 16th, 1936 - July 1st, 2018
Major Alfred Brunette Jr. Ret., "Al" to all who knew him, 81, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, passed away on July 1, 2018. He was born in Gilman, VT and moved to Florida in 1967. Al served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1969. Activated from the National Guard he served two tours in Vietnam. Al was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, and two Bronze Stars. Al was severely wounded in 1969 and retired from the Army. He then went on to earn a Masters degree in Accounting from the University of Tampa. Al also worked for and retired from TECO. After retirement, Al spent many years serving as a volunteer at the TECO Manatee Center, the Moffitt Cancer Center and the Pepin Heart Institute. Al is endearingly remembered as a "story teller" and "Civil War buff". He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his many grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister, Carol Lyszchyn, and is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alice Brunette, his two sons, Michael Brunette and his wife, Nancy, Thomas Brunette and his wife, Tina; two daughters, Sandra Abrams and her husband, Ed, Lori Derrico; one sister, Mary Riffenburg; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Daniel, Alysha, Nicholas, Zachary, Halle, and Lyndsey; and two great grandchildren Elijah and Moses. A Memorial Mass will take place at 10:00am,Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Our Lady of the Rosary in Land O' Lakes, FL. A graveside Service will take place at 10:00am, Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Florida National Cemetery.
