September 20th, 1947 - August 26th, 2018
BYRNE, Michael David 70, of Lutz, Florida passed away on August 26, 2018 while surrounded by family. Michael was born in Syracuse, NY and lived there most of his life. After spending three years in the Army, he was hired by the New York State Police where he retired as a Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Bureau after 20 years. With a desire to play as much softball as possible, he moved to Florida and joined the Department of Financial Services, Insurance Fraud Division in 2003. After rising through the ranks he was promoted to Major in 2014 where he remained until his death. Michael had a passion for sports and landscaping as well as a love for dogs. He is survived by his wife Kathleen; three children, Jacqueline Mills, Timothy, Brian; brother William; sister Kathleen; and five grandchildren. Services will be private and there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
