Dorine Letha Carter
February 10th, 1941 - January 10th, 2019
CARTER, Dorine Letha, 77 of Lutz, Florida passed away January 10, 2019. She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia and moved to Brooksville, Florida 71 years ago at the age of 6. She was Baptist in faith and a coach for, as well as president of, the Lutz Softball Leagurettes. She loved butterflies and her favorite activities included sewing and cooking. She often made clothing for her children and was notorious for her peach cobbler and macaroni salad recipes. Sadly, she lost the love of her life, F.C. Carter, after 22 years of marriage. Having played both the mother and father role in her children’s lives, Dorine sacrificed much for her children and always put them first. Many people thought of Dorine as a second mother to them. She was extremely protective of “the Carter Girls,” an amazing mother, role model, and friend. She was also the best “MeMaw” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorine had the kindest soul in that she would never judge another person and could put a smile on anyone’s face. She was a selfless person and a blessing to all that met her, and she will be greatly missed by many. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 22 years, F.C. Carter; parents, Ray and Letha Goodwin; sister, Irene Goodwin; and brother, Alvin Goodwin. She is survived by her daughters, Darleen Carter, Patricia (Walter) Allen, Dorothy Carter, Karen (Keith) Cockream, and Linda Carter; her brothers, Raymond Goodwin, Harry Goodwin, and Jimmy Goodwin; her sisters, Dora Ammons and Joyce Moyer; grandchildren, Heather Young, Joshua Allen, Kandee McDowell, Amanda Solomon, Kristi Gooddine, Kayla Fulghum, and Cody Litton; 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A service will be held at 10:00 am on January 15, 2019 at Loyless Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to service.
