BURKETT, Virginia “Ginny”, 66, of Spring Hill, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011 at her home with family. She was born in Ft. Benning, GA and moved to Tampa in 1946. In 1976 Virginia attended Jacksonville State University in Alabama where she obtained her masters in nursing. Later in 1998 she earned a teaching degree from USF with a 4.0 grade average. Virginia became a nurse (RN) and a nursing instructor. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Virgil G. and Corrie Vida Stead (RN) and Buck, the wonder dog. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, John Burkett; two sons, Jeff and his wife, Lori Coplon and Jerry and his wife, Laura Coplon; two step daughters, Julie Burkett and Amanda Burkett; four grandchildren, Connor Coplon, Kendyl Coplon, Dannielle Hile, and Nicholas Hile; three brothers, Fred Stead, Gerald Stead, and Frank Stead; and Duke. A memorial service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Loyless Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HPH Hospice.
