Eileen Myrtle Jones

JONES, Eileen Myrtle, 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 20, 2011. She was born on March 23, 1917, in Boone, NC. Eileen was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and a godly Christian example in every way. She was a proficient secretary and worked at the University of Maryland and later at Appalachian State University until she retired. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Land O’ Lakes, Fla., She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Sarah Harless Jones; husband of 57 years, Jake Oliver Jones; three brothers, Herbert (Hazel Jones), Major (Lucy) Jones and Raymond (Louise) Jones and two sisters, Josephine Jones and Ruth (William) Poplin. She is survived by her two sons, Gary (Elizabeth) Jones of Maryville, TN and Ronnie (Wilhelmina) Jones of McDonald, TN; grandchildren, Dawn Shannon, Lisa (Jimmy) Thomasson, Keith (Melissa), Kristy, Steve and Michael (Stephanie) Jones. Great grandchildren, Emily and Abby Shannon, Lindsey, Trevor and Lauren Jones, and Nathanael, Isaac, Emily and Mckenzie Thomasson and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Loyless Funeral Home with her pastor, Dr. David Peterson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
