CARLSON, Richard A. “Dick”, 70, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013. He was born in Illinois to Ted and Billie Carlson and moved to Florida 23 years ago. Dick was a United States Army Veteran. He served during the Vietnam era as a Chaplain’s assistant. He attended Northern Illinois University and studied music. He was a retired driller for Soil Testing Services. Dick was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, their music ministry and the Land O’ Lakes Friendship Singers. He actively participated in the Land O’ Lakes Moose Lodge and FL Amvets. He is preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Carlson, of Mt. Prospect, IL. Dick is survived by his son, Tim Carlson of Lakemoor, IL; daughter, Kristie Norvell and her husband, Joe of Long Grove, IL; brother, Ted Carlson, Jr. and his wife, Nora of MN; seven grandchildren and many other extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13th at Messiah Lutheran Church in Tampa. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Loyless Funeral Home. Donations may be made in Dick’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
