Louise Terrell
October 2nd, 1936 - February 20th, 2016
TERRELL, Louise Marion Hedrick, 79, passed away February 20, 2016. She was a 1955 graduate of H.B. Plant High School and a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. Louise moved to Tampa from Detroit, Michigan at the age of 12, as her father accepted a position in Tampa with St. Joseph Hospital before founding the South Tampa Orthopaedic Center and Sports Injury Clinic, which is still a success today. As a Girl Scout leader for many years, she loved going camping and exploring with her daughters. Louise was a small business owner in Tampa, who worked hard but loved to play. She remained in Tampa until 1981, when Johnny was transferred to Jacksonville, where she was with Coldwell Banker. Then he was transferred to Washington D.C. where she ran the front desk of the Altavista Condominium/Hilton. Louise loved doing this as she met diplomats and people from all over the world. Her kids enjoyed her career as a stay at home mom, and had so much fun with her. Before and after retirement, there were numerous adventures across the nation in the RV, and many friends were made along the way. Her favorite spot in the world was the beach place she and Johnny bought early on, and wonderful summers were enjoyed there with family and friends. After 9/11, Louise and Johnny decided to leave the Virginia/Washington D.C. area and come back home to Tampa and Indian Shores and enjoy their children and grandchildren. At this time she became a charter member of Krewe of Southern Sisterhood, and she had great times with Allison and the girls. After Johnny passed away in 2013, she enjoyed her remaining years at Connerton Court Assisted Living, close to her family. Even though she was born in the north, (which we liked to kid her about) she was a true Southern lady, always friendly and thinking of others. She will be so missed by her family and all of her friends. Louise is pre-deceased by her parents, Dr. Donald Hedrick and Jeane Briggs Hedrick; and her sister, Nancy Hedrick Gibbons. She is also pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years, high school sweetheart, John Lostin Terrell, Jr. Louise is survived by her children, Katharine T. Cuervo, Allison Terrell Mitchell and her husband Glenn; grandchildren, Robert MacDermid, Jr., John Chandler Mitchell and Jennifer Ann Mitchell. As requested, there will be no public service. Donations in her memory may be made to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, 18328 Gulf Blvd. Indian Shores, FL 33785 or the Residents Activity Department at Connerton Court Assisted Living, 21021 Betel Palm Lane Land O’ Lakes, FL 34638. Written condolences may be sent to the family at 12465 Citation Road Spring Hill, FL 34610. Loyless Funeral Home online guestbook available.
