Joseph Anthony Nieves

NIEVES, Joseph Anthony, 72, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida passed away May 20, 2019. "Joe" was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico and moved to the States in 1953. After raising a family, Joe and his wife Jean moved from New York to Florida in 2005. Joe was a hard worker and took pride in his work ethic as a diamond setter, in New York, and for his years working at Publix, in Florida. He was a history buff and enjoyed listening to the comedic acts of George Carlin, his favorite comedian. Joe enjoyed fishing, singing, listening to Motown music, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known for always putting french fries on his hamburgers and chips on his sandwiches. He also had quite the sweet tooth and loved his chocolate cookies. Joe will be remembered for his great sense of humor and sarcasm. Some of the fondest memories are of Joe dancing and teaching others to dance by allowing them to step on his feet while he danced. His family was his number one priority and they will miss him greatly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margarita and David Nieves; brothers, William Nieves and Eliseo Nieves; and sister, Sarah Rios. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Jean; sons, Joseph Anthony Nieves and his wife, Laura, Joseph Daniel Nieves and his wife, Katherina, Michael Anthony Nieves and his wife, Katie, and Eric Eliseo Nieves; daughters, Rosalie Kureshy and her husband, Imran, Jeanne Morgan and her wife, Michelle, and Iris Marie Ferrara and her husband, Will; grandchildren, Sabrina, Rehan, Jarrad, Kelsey, Jillian, Tyler, Felicia, Catherine, Cassandra, Isys, Luna, Arya, Alyssa, Lia, and Eva; and many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will take place at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Loyless Funeral Homes in Land O’ Lakes, FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
