WALSH, Patricia A. (Pat), 83, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida passed away Friday April 16, 2021. Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend to so many. Pat was a devout Catholic, a retired nurse of 45 years, and a soul so deeply full of optimism and positivity that one could never forget her smile or the warmth it inspired. Born in the Bronx, NY, Pat attended St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Greenwich Village. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and dedicated 45 years to serving others in intensive and cardiac care units, and as a visiting nurse on Long Island, NY. Pat was a doer, a mover, a person who hummed when actively engaged, both literally and figuratively. She was most fulfilled when engaged with her hands—tending to her patients and family, gardening, playing bridge, painting a room, or crocheting a blanket for a loved one. Though an active person, she was also one who always appreciated the value of serenity and stillness. Countless sunsets with her husband, Joe, of 56 years marked their enduring love as their most cherished and peaceful moments, amidst the chaos of raising 5 children. Pat, along with Joe, was an active member of St. Agnes Cathedral parish in Rockville Centre, NY, devoting her time as a Eucharistic Minister, in the Marriage Encounter program, and in heading the Pre-Cana marriage preparation program for many years. After retirement, Pat and Joe lived on Lake Panamoka in Ridge, NY in the summer and wintered in Florida for 20 years. They moved permanently to Land O’ Lakes, Florida in September of 2018, attending Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Over the past few years, Pat has become a beloved figure at The Groves, sharing her smile and her spirit with all who met her, whether it was relaxing by the pool, playing bridge, bocce, and shuffleboard, or while dedicating herself to learning mahjong. Pat is survived by her siblings AJ, Helen, Kathie, and John, and her 5 children, son Jim and wife Nancy, son Joseph and wife Michelle, daughter Janet, son Patrick and wife Shannon, and son Peter and wife Sarah, as well as her 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A visitation will be held for Pat at Loyless Funeral Home in Land O’ Lakes (5310 Land O’ Lakes Blvd) on Monday, April 26 from 5-7 PM with a brief service at 6 PM. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 27 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Land O’ Lakes (2348 Collier Parkway) with burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at 1 PM. A celebration of life will be held at Knotted Roots on the Lake in Land O’ Lakes (3310 Land O’ Lakes Blvd) from 3-6 PM. All who knew her are welcome.
