Steven DeWayne Glass
January 27th, 1960 - December 10th, 2021
Steven DeWayne Glass died Friday, December 10th, 2021 in Lutz, Florida. He was born January 27th, 1960 in Austin, Texas to Carilyn S. and Juandell Doyle Glass. His early childhood was spent in Texas and Ohio. After graduating from Lakota High School in 1978 where he played many sports like soccer and football, Steve joined the U.S. Navy, carrying out missions all over the world. After serving in the military, Steve held a series of jobs where he expressed his interests in business and marketing. He held a compassionate view of work and life, acting like a ‘rolling stone’ where he balanced obligation with play. While working in Atlanta, Georgia, Steve met Julie, his life partner. The rest of his life was spent loving his new family, researching family ancestry, visiting as many aquariums and zoos as possible, doing meaningful community work by refereeing sports, and spoiling his beloved pets. We know that Steve is cuddling his beloved dog, Simon, in Heaven right now. He is preceded in death by his father, Juandell Doyle Glass, and his brother, Bill Glass. He is survived by his loving family which includes his life partner, Julie Pursley; two children, David Dooling and Malia Tingler (Josh); mother, Carilyn S. Glass; and sisters, Ann Tavenner (JD ) Karen Meneely (Bruce). Steve is also survived by numerous nieces, a nephew, and grandchildren. In the Spring of 2022, a celebration of life will be held in Maryland. The family asks that any charitable donations be made to your local animal shelters and/or pet rescue organizations.
