Mary Ann White
September 8th, 1949 - February 11th, 2019
Surrounded by her loving family, Mary Ann Balkite White a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend too many passed away peacefully on February 11, 2019. Mary Ann’s will in the face of an unwinnable battle with cancer mirrored her life of perseverance despite the situation. Mary Ann was born in Greenwich Connecticut on September 8, 1949. She was preceded in death by her parents Alexander Joseph Balkite and Margaret Mary Duff Balkite and her infant son Joseph Stephen White. She is survived by her beloved husband Bruce J. White; her loving children, Thomas A White (Alison) of Wesley Chapel Florida and Robert A. White of Milford Connecticut; her brothers Richard J Balkite (Susan) and Peter R Balkite (Claire); and her cherish grandchildren Bruce, Matthew, Emily, and Michael. Mary Ann is also survived by three nieces and five nephews. Mary Ann graduated from Central Connecticut State University. Married in 1972, Mary Ann decided to put aside her career and became a stay at home mom. Somehow she found time to chair the Madison Connecticut Health and Human Services Board in the early 1980’s. Moving back to Greenwich in 1985 she went back to work in the school system so she could stay close to her boys. When the boys graduated high school she restarted her career with Playtex Apparel in Stamford Connecticut, retiring in 2004. Moving to New Tampa in 2006 she soon became restless and worked for Talbots in Wesley Chapel. Mary Ann was a vivacious, outgoing person who could make friends with anyone. She loved skiing, working out and cooking and most of all she enjoyed attending as many school, sporting and other events in which her boys and later her grandchildren participated. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 28 at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HPH Hospice, 6801 Rowan Rd., Newport Richey FL 34653 or a charity of your choice.
