Norbert Dettlaff

Norbert Jerome Dettlaff, “Norb,” “Matt,” “Bumpa,” age 82, passed away at his home in San Antonio, FL on February 11th, 2021. Norbert was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 26th, 1939 where he lived most of his life. Norbert was a 33rd degree Mason and was active in the Milwaukee Shriners Band. In Milwaukee he owned an auto body shop and an aftermarket auto customization shop that provided service for many local dealerships. Norb took great pride in having a home in the Milwaukee suburbs with a beautiful yard. Tulips were his favorite flower and he loved planting in the spring. When he retired in 1999 Norbert and DeEtta moved to Florida for the winter while still spending summers in the Milwaukee, WI area. Naturally, Norb was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan and loved watching them win on Sundays. Throughout his life, he enjoyed his family first, and loved great food, traveling, and all genres of music. He also was a problem solver that took on many projects around the house and found creative ways to fix things. Norbert was preceded in death by his mother Anna Marie Pochowski; and his sisters Helen and Elizabeth (Betty). He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 60 years, DeEtta Faye Dettlaff, nee Losey; daughters: Lori Russello, and Lynn Matter (Tom); son: Jay Dettlaff (Cindy); his 8 grandchildren: Kristin, Tom Jr., Katherine, and Timmy Matter, Vito and Roma Russello, Cassidy and Sawyer Dettlaff, and his two great-grandsons, William and Rowen. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. A service will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Loyless Funeral Home, 5310 Land O' Lakes Blvd., Land O' Lakes with visitation being held from 10:00-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
