Memorial

Janet Allard Cook – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear stepmother, step grandmother, aunt and friend, Janet Cook, on Tuesday January 16 at home, following a sudden illness. Janet was born in Hartford, CT on October 23, 1946. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years Jon S Cook, her parents Richard and Roselma Allard, her siblings Charles Allard, Wayne Allard, John Francis Allard, Gregory Allard, and Ellie Fales. She leaves behind her stepchildren, Ginny Cabana, Jayne Bahler (Lloyd), Jon S Cook, Ingrid Goodenov (Larry) and Judy Labas (Mark), grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews as well as countless friends and colleagues. Janet was all about family, both personal and professional. After graduating, Janet started her journey in the Beauty Industry as a Clinique Consultant, working behind the cosmetics counter. From there she achieved many milestones, moving up the ranks not only in the US market but also building the international market and heading Clinique International. She worked tirelessly for the Estee Lauder Companies for decades. While working for the Estee Lauder Corporation, she obtained her MBA from Harvard University. Janet was all about people and was the ultimate mentor who inspired those around her to meet their full potential. After retiring from the Estee Lauder Companies, Janet and Jon moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where she put her nurturing efforts into developing the young Aveda Florida Team and the Be Aveda Institutes of Florida. She loved the Beauty Industry, but most of all she was so very proud of the many people she mentored along the way. She was the force behind the successes achieved by all she deeply cared for during her career. She left a lasting legacy at Aveda and helped raise over $1.7 M for BCRF and Clean Water Foundation. She fought to get Florida’s highest bridge; The Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway lit pink for October. She will be dearly missed by many. She will always live in the hearts and guide the actions of those she mentored. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Our Lady of Grace Church 515 4th Street South in St Petersburg, Florida 33701, February 19 2024 at 10:30 am. Final interment will take place later in the Spring at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rocky Hill, CT. Janet supported many charities. The family asks that donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation www.bcrf.com To donate: CLICK HERE
