Joyce Kubala
February 8th, 1959 - June 29th, 2010
Joyce Kubala, 51, went to be with the Lord on June 29. She was born in Queens, NY, the loving daughter of Michael and Geraldine Petite. Joyce was a wonderful wife to Paul, a devoted mother to Courtney, Kendal, and Kyle and a sweet sister to Roseann Wyman, Michael Petite, Debbie Innerarity, Karen Petite and Marie Petite. Joyce leaves behind her in laws including Paul's parents Lily and Chris, Paul's sisters Michelle and Cheryl, and brother Daniel. She will also be sorely missed by her aunts (Mary, Helen, and Flo), her great-Uncle Bob, nieces (Liz, Melanie, Emmy, and Kristen), nephews (Christian, Nick, Greg, Collin, Wendell, Erick, Peyton, Palmer, Chris, Andy, Bryan, David, Jason and Andrew), and cousins (Dacia, Kayla, Cindra, Heidi, and David). Joyce was a homemaker for many years. She worked with Margaret Ann's Catering and provided home daycare for her extended family. Joyce enjoyed gardening, singing, camping, and spending time at the River with her family. She loved driving her beloved children to their various activities. She adored her pets Sadie and Meowma. Joyce was a cherished and active member of St Raphael's Catholic Church. She participated in Christ Renews His Parish, St. Raphael's Council of Catholic Women, Vacation Bible School and Bible studies. She was an active volunteer with St. Raphael's Catholic School. Joyce was an honored speaker for a "Magnificat" program at St Jude's after she began her journey with breast cancer. It indeed was a wonderful, inspirational, and heartwarming talk on how her faith and our Blessed Mother, Mary, helped her through her life. She was a friend to many, a source of joy to all who knew her. She will be most remembered for her strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and her loving disposition to all the people around her. She valiantly fought breast cancer twice and the metastatic cancer that ended her life could NOT crush her courage, perseverance, kind heart, sense of humor or brilliant smile. Throughout her illnesses, Joyce was the one who encouraged her family and friends and shared her strong gift of faith with us. Joyce was loved by all who knew her and many who just knew her story. We will miss her and we are better people because we knew and loved Joyce. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Catholic Cemetery, in loving memory of Joyce Kubala.
