Virginia Rose Turner Frankenberg
February 24th, 1922 - June 2nd, 2013
Virginia was born on February 24, 1922 and passed away on June 2, 2013. Virginia attended Oakwood Elementary School and Central High School in Knoxville, TN. Virginia was a member of the Bulls Gap United Methodist Church and later a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Morristown, TN while she lived in Bulls Gap, TN. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Sally Minerva Wyrick Turner and Cornelius Terral Turner, Brother Carrol Turner and Husband Louis E. Frankenberg Sr. Half-brothers Herbert Turner, Robert Turner, Earl Turner and Half-sister's Edna Scott Ward, Florence Turner Pesa. Virginia is survived by daughters: Jeanette Carol Harper and Virginia Rose Mellinger(Pete) and Sons: Louis E Frankenberg Jr. (Nancy) and Ernest E. Frankenberg (Debbie). Grandson's: Christopher Frankenberg and Scott Mellinger (Victoria) and granddaughter: Staci Mellinger and great-grand daughter: Devin Michelle. Virginia worked at the Little Dutch Restaurant in Morristown, TN for Frank and Mattie Lorena and at the Magnavox Corporation in Greeneville, TN. She also worked part time at Jama's Florist in Bulls Gap, TN. Virginia joined the VFW Auxiliary in 1968 when her two sons returned from Vietnam. She held the following offices: Auxiliary President (4 years), Auxiliary Secretary (2 years), Auxiliary Treasurer (2 years), Auxiliary Secretary -Treasurer (2 years). Virginia joined the Grand Tennessee, Military Order of the Cootie Auxiliary in 1969 and held numerous appointed offices. In 1972 Virginia joined the Department of Tennessee AMVETS. She Auxiliary President for 1 ½ years in Auxiliary # 21 and for 2 years in Auxiliary # 7. She was also Secretary in Auxiliary #7 for 2 years. She was V.A.V.S Representative for 1 year at the Mountain Home VA Medical Center, won the National AMVETS Americanism Award, and held numerous appointed offices. Virginia is a life member. Virginia joined the American Legion in 1975. Following Virginia's move to Florida in 1979 , she continued to be very active in both the V.F.W.A and the M.O.C.A. She filled the Holiday Isles #4256 V.F.W.A chairs, District #9 V.F.W.A chairs, and the Department office of Recording Secretary. Virginia has held all the chairs in the M.O.C.A Gator #18, District #9, and the Grand of Florida up to her Grand Senior Vice President. She was also Hospital Chairman of Gator #18 and Grand ways and Means Chairman. Virginia had been volunteer at Bay Pines V.A Hospital in Seminole, FL since 1980, holding the position of V.A.A.S-V.F.W.A Representative since 1982. During this time she held the position of V.A.V.S Executive Committee Chairperson for 2years and won the National V.F.W.A Volunteer Award and the Voluntary Service Leadership Award.
