Evelyn Sanders Ballmer

Ballmer, Evelyn Sanders 103, of St. Petersburg, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010. Evelyn was born February 20, 1907 in Detroit, MI and was baptized on February 28, 1907 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Her mother, Ernestine Stiegler, died when Evelyn was 3 years old and she was adopted by (mother's sister) her aunt and uncle John and Augusta Sanders. She was confirmed at Martin Luther Church and on November 6, 1929 married Franklin J. Ballmer in that church. Four children: Judith Buhrow, Dianne Johnson, Franklin and John Ballmer were also baptized in Martin Luther Church. The family moved to Milwaukee, WI in 1949 and became members of Fox Point Lutheran Church. After the death of her husband in 1969, Evelyn moved to St. Petersburg in 1971 and became a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and also became associate member of Lutheran Church of the Cross. She was a member of the Mary-Martha Circle and Bayfront Medical Auxiliary. She is survived by above four children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 5pm at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 4545-Chancellor St. NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to ELCA World Hunger Relief.
