Doris "Granny" Mae Norris
August 2nd, 1935 - September 28th, 2013
Norris, Doris Mae "Granny" 78, of St. Petersburg, went to join the Lord Saturday, September 28, 2013, at home. Born in Bradenton, Florida, she came here in 1958. After retiring she moved to Levy County where she resided for 20 years before coming back to St. Petersburg in June 2012. She graduated from Manatee County High School in 1953. She was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, Morriston Baptist Church and Starkey Road Baptist Church. For over 50 years she worked in the Nursery at First Baptist Church and Morriston Baptist Church. She also cooked the Wednesday night meals in her churches for many years. She was an avid fan of Florida State Football. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Lucille Zipperer and her brother, Charles Zipperer. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clarence; children, Tony (Star); Cheryl, Sharon (Greg) Dunn and Tommy (Dana); brother, Gary Zipperer; grandchildren, Matthew Norris, Taylor (Katie) Norris, Chelsea Norris, Joshua Dunn and Emily Dunn and great grandchildren, Wyatt Norris and Kensley Norris. A visitation will be held from 5pm-8pm on Friday, Oct. 4th at Anderson McQueen, 7820 38th Ave. N. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Saturday, Oct. 5th at Fortner Cemetery in Parrish, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Nursery at Morriston Baptist Church, 3141 South Highway 41, Morriston, FL 32668.
