Ruth Halladay Newton died unexpectedly, albeit peacefully, in her sleep early on the morning of December 7th. Her family wants you to know they think of, and will forever remember her as a strong, faithful servant to God, a lady in every sense of the word; a loving and giving wife, with focus on her exceptional role as an Air Force Wife; an Air Force (and Navy) Mother; a Nana for her four grandchildren and two two Great grandchildren; a mentor, and in their collective opinion, a Role Model worthy for all who knew her to emulate. Those who will miss her physical presence are: her husband, Colonel Richard Y. Newton Jr., USAF (Ret); her daughter, Kathleen N. Ahlwardt and her husband El and their family; Her son, Lt Gen Richard Y. Newton III, USAF (Ret), his wife Jody, and their family; her "favorite Brother- in- Law", C.M. Newton and his family; and her nephew (more like younger brother) Bill Bryan and his family. Before and throughout their 63 years and half of marriage, she selflessly committed herself to the reality of 66 consecutive years of Uniformed Service. Her husband, son, and son-in-law collectively served 95 years in the Air Force, the Army, and the Navy. They know and appreciate her lead role as "The Lady without Whom..." they could not have had careers, or the strong Families, that have resulted and continue today. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to support the Airmen and Family Programs of the Air Force Association: by mail: Attn: Airmen & Family Programs, 1501 Lee Highway, Arlington, VA 22209; by email [email protected]; or online at AFA.org/AFA/Donate. For this option, click "Make a Donation", then select "Airmen/Family Programs" from the drop down menu, then select "make a donation in memory of" and write in "for Ruth H. Newton"in the additional information box. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in St Petersburg at 3:00PM on December 11, 2013
