Elizabeth "MeMe" LeCompte
March 6th, 1921 - October 11th, 2010
LeCompte, Elizabeth "MeMe" of St. Petersburg, peacefully left to be with the Lord on October 11, 2010. Born in Montgomery, AL in 1921, Elizabeth was later raised in Lake County, FL. After working in Tallahassee, she came to St. Petersburg in 1950 where she met her husband of 60 years, Eugene LeCompte, Sr. Together, they then opened the Park Inn Restaurant and Drugstore on 16th Street in the Woodlawn area. Elizabeth's passions in life were her large family, her numerous friends, her beautiful home garden and sharing her love of flowers with others. She was a member of several local area gardening clubs and she also professionally managed the Maas Brothers Floral Department for a number of years. A 50-plus year member of Allendale Methodist Church, Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Eugene; two sons, Joe and Morris (Pam Wittner); four grandsons, Tyler (Gretchen McDonald), Brad, Greg and Sam; and one great granddaughter, Riley Elizabeth (so named for her Great-MeMe). Elizabeth passed away in peace surrounded by her loving family. A service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 16 at Allendale Methodist Church (Haines Rd. and 38th Ave. N.) in St. Petersburg. Memorial contributions can be made to Allendale Methodist Church.
