Grace Louise Marma
November 3rd, 1925 - October 17th, 2010
Grace was 84 when she went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born in New York City, New York where she grew up and went to Hunter Women's College. She received her Master's Degree from Syracuse University. After World War II, she moved to Germany and worked in Munich at a resettlement center for displaced persons and for the U.S. Government. She met her loving husband, Tony, in Germany where all four of their children were born. She also worked as a journalist and an English professor. In retirement she spent 22 years as an AARP Tax-Aide volunteer. She was an avid reader and bridge player. She lived in Duncanville, Texas for 35 years with her family, and in 2008 she moved to Saint Petersburg, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her children: Kris, Kim, Kathy and Steve; her grandchildren: Kevin, Zane, Colin, Alejandra and Nicole; her daughter-in-law, Marta; her son-in-law, Bob Scherrer; her niece, Marcia Marma and, her faithful feline friend, Carmie. Respecting Grace's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Grace's honor to the local Salvation Army chapter or to The First Church of Christ Scientist.
