Hall, Howard Brandon Born September 11, 1927, at Bon Secours Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, son of Dr. Samuel Jennings Hall and Lillian Edith Brandon Hall. Attended LaSalle Grammar School, New Orleans, LA; graduate of Georgia Military College (High School), Milledgeville, GA., Class of 1946; attended University of Washington, Seattle, (1946 -49). He enlisted in the Army in 1952, and served in the Signal Corps as a Radio Teletype Operator with Alaska Communications System in 1953-58, in Ketchikan, Sitka, Unalaska, and Juneau. He became a Morse Code Intercept Operator with the Army Security Agency in 1962 at Fort Devens, MA. Married Janet Louise Seavey, on October 27, 1962, at First Congregational Church, Main Street, Haverhill, Massachusetts. He is the father of two sons, Brian Nelson Hall and Stephen Edward Hall, and grandfather to Amber Elizabeth Hall and Brandon Ryan Hall. Howie and Janet celebrated 48 years of marriage. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Jean Towne. Sgt. Hall's duty stations took him to Ft. Huachuca, AZ (1962-63); to Hakata Field Station, Japan (1963-64); to Fort Monmouth, NJ (1965-68); to Tay Ninh, Vietnam (1968-69); Schwaebisch Gmuend, Germany (1969-72); and finally, Fort Devens, MA (1972-73). After retirement, the family moved to Haverhill, MA. He worked for Union Mission Nursing Home for 15 years in Maintenance and Dietary Departments. They were members of Hilltown Squares square dancing club. In 1989, he and his wife moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. They continued their love of ballroom dancing for many years. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League and a Life Member of the Society of Wireless Pioneers; his call letters being WB1FZW (1978 - 90) and KC4SPB. His interests included Amateur Radio, Bowling and Word Find Puzzles. A memorial service will be held at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, 6315 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Howard's name to National Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org, or to Pilgrim Congregational Church.
