James "Jim" W. Meeker
August 2nd, 1918 - December 25th, 2010
Meeker, James W. "Jim" 92, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Bay Pines VA Health Care System. Born in Martins Ferry, OH, he came here in 1965 from Lake Milton, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneveive. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley A. Tomesko; 3 grandchildren, Kim A. Ford, Terri S. Rodriguez and Lora A. Ambrosio; 4 great grandchildren, Alexis, Cruz, James and Ruben; sister, Lydia Kendig and many nieces and nephews. Jim joined the Moose in OH in 1960, transferred his membership to St. Petersburg #1145 in 1965, where he was a life member and past Governor, past North Moose, past Deputy Grand North Moose, past Herder of Orange Blossom Moose Legion #125 (for over 41 years) and Moose Legionnaire. He was a Lodge and Moose Legion Ritualist and competed in many International Competitions for both. He was a member of Fellowship and Pilgrim Degrees of Loyal Order of Moose and a charter member, life member, past President and past District President of Fraternal Order of Eagles #3658 and also past President of Aerie #2216 in Ohio. He was an Army veteran having served during WWII and a Methodist. There will be a visitation from 6pm - 9pm on Thursday, Dec 30th at Anderson-McQueen, 2201 Dr. MLK St. N where a funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, Dec. 31st. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to VA Hospice.
