Kwok Kwong Mui
August 15th, 1934 - January 20th, 2011
MUI, Kwok Kwong, 76, of Seminole passed away peacefully on January 20, 2011 with his four loving children by his side. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Ken Jan Yee Mui. He is survived by his children; daughter Linda and husband Daniel Wright of Tampa; daughter Lisa and husband Kevin LynFatt of Tampa; son James and wife Lisa Lanphar Mui of Clearwater; daughter Lilly and husband Max Dang of Tampa; his 9 grandchildren (Deric, Mia, Phoebe, Khloe, Ella, William, Brandon, Jennifer, and Jonathan); his brother Kwok Ming Mui of Seminole, and several nieces and nephews. His journey of life began in Canton, China in 1934. He moved from Hong Kong to Colombia, and finally settled in Florida in 1959. For over 35 years, he was the head chef and co-owner of the original Golden Phoenix restaurant in Treasure Island and the Hong Kong Restaurant in Daytona Beach. He worked hard all his life, immigrating his siblings and mother to America and assuring a better life for his children and family. Kwok's life work also included rebuilding his hometown in China. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, the beach and fishing, and any activity that included spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He was highly respected and loved by his family, friends and the community. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Guests will be received from 10:30 AM, service follows at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 26th at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, Tyrone Chapel (727) 347-6636. Burial will be at Royal Palms Cemetery in Pasadena immediately following service. "Flowers can be sent to the Funeral home or in lieu of, donations will be accepted during service to contribute to a memorial being built in his honor at his hometown of Canton, China."
