Sheffield, Helen C. Dornbusch McQueen, "The Birthday Lady", 85, died February 2, 2011 at home in the care of the Suncoast Hospice. She was born in St. Petersburg on August 9, 1925, the daughter of Marion and Willie B Dornbusch. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1943, and attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee. She married Thomas A. McQueen on April 1, 1945. Mr. McQueen died September 22, 2001. She married Lee R. Sheffield Jr. on April 20, 2002. Mr. Sheffield died December 27, 2008. Helen was a lifelong member of Christ United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Friendship Class. For nearly thirty years she called each member of the church on their birthday. Her birthday ministry also extended to many family and friends outside of the church family. Helen was an avid seamstress and loved to knit. She enjoyed traveling and tending to her African Violets. She enjoyed collecting clowns. She is survived by two sons: Thomas A McQueen III of Old Town, FL and John and Laurel McQueen of St. Petersburg. Her sister, Eileen D. Hill of McDonough, GA; a stepson, Lee R. Sheffield III and Diane of Tallahassee, two step daughters: Susan Sheffield and Peggy Sheffield of St. Petersburg. Four grandsons: Thomas A. McQueen IV and Lori of Colorado Springs, Co, David P. McQueen and Morgan of Cross City, FL, Kenneth S. McQueen and Carly of Enid, OK and Kevin L McQueen of London, England. Four step grand children: Kyle and Michelle Tomao and Taylor and Michael Volosin. Four great grandchildren: Colin, Taylor, Paige and Cale McQueen and many nieces and nephews. The family will have a Gathering 4 - 6 PM on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes - NE St. Pete. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Christ United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Christ United Methodist Church or Suncoast Hospice.
