Dr. Eugene W. Hanson (Gene) of St. Petersburg, Florida Born February 7th 1929 Died May 20th, 2014 Gene was born and raised in Huron South Dakota. He served this country in the Army in 1946 in Japan after WWII. He graduated from Hamline University before attending medical School at the University of Minnesota graduating in 1956. He completed a medical internship at Mound Park Hospital; St Petersburg, finishing in 1957. He served this community as a general practitioner in Kenneth City from 1957 until 1990. After retiring from active practice, he volunteered at the St. Petersburg Free Clinic and became involved in medical mission work serving in various countries including Russia, Nepal, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Swaziland, Haiti, and Jamaica. Gene also served on Mercy Ships in Central America. He was a generous and compassionate man who loved life, loved people, and loved his family. He was a man of strong Christian faith who was ready to meet his Lord upon his death. He will be missed by both family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Hanson and his four children Pamela Hanson Miller (Dave), Ruth Hanson Stewart (Roy), Paul Howard Hanson, and Robert Eugene Hanson (Tamera) along with eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Murphy Hanson. There will be a Visitation on Saturday May 31stat 1PM with a Christian service following at 2PM at Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center-Tyrone Chapel, 7820 38th Ave N. In lieu of flowers, please make donations Medical Ministry International or to Mercy Ships International.
