84, of Pinellas Park, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Northside Hospital. The daughter of the late Jesus and Maria (Cavazos) Cadena, was born on December 23, 1926 in Luling, TX. She married Carlos M. Zamora on November 22, 1947. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in St. Petersburg. Katy dedicated her life to her family and church and will be greatly missed. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. As a young woman, Katy moved with her family to Michigan. After her marriage to Carlos, they eventually settled in Saginaw, MI and raised their children. In 1983, they retired to St. Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her brother, Felix Cadena; and her sisters, Maria Vasquez and Carmen Godina. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Carlos; her 8 children, Carmen (Vincent) Lopez, Beatrice (Telesforo) Ramirez, Ernesto (Jodi) Zamora, Ester (Bryan) Tanury, Elvira Feldman (fiancé Robert), Margarita Garlin, Carlos Zamora Jr. (partner Jeff) and Arturo Zamora (fiancé Krissie); 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Patricio (Anna)Cadena, Manuel (Herminia) Cadena, Jesus (Lucia) Cadena, Juan Jose (Marta) Cadena; sisters, Lupe Reyna and Anita Lopez; sister-in-laws, Frances Cadena, Carmen Arizo, Delores Derige and Benita Castillo; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to give a special thank-you to Esperanza Adame and Aurora Perez for the love and care they gave to our mother. A visitation will take place on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 2-4pm and from 6-9pm at the 7820 38th Avenue North location. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 12pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church, and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
