Gates, Gary Francis 67, of St. Petersburg, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011. For 25 years, Gary was a driver and official at Sunshine Speedway. He was a former member of Racecars of Yesterday. He loved to restore vintage race cars and antiques and was a collector of 60's muscle cars. He is survived by his wife, Tyree; son, Gregory; grandchild, Riley Gates; brother, Russell Edward Gates; and sister, Patricia Jean Scites. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11am at Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center, 7820 - 38th Avenue North. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Suncoast Hospice or Special Olympics.
