Stafford, Stephen D. "Steve" 74, of St. Petersburg, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014. Steve was born in Detroit, MI to Glen Burns and May Stafford on September 19, 1940. They moved from Detroit to Atlanta and shortly thereafter to Saint Petersburg in the late 1940s. Steve lost both his parents in short order as a young teenager and grew up in an orphanage in Darien, GA. After high school, he attended college at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies. He later pursued and received his Master's Degree in Education. He taught as a social studies and history teacher at Meadowlawn Middle School and Gibbs High School, retired after 36 years of teaching. He was an Air Force Auxiliary veteran. His wife of 45 years, Annette; son, Stephen II; several cousins; and many brothers and sisters in law survive him. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on October 11, 2014 at Anderson McQueen, 7820 38th Ave. N.
