Stockwell, James L., 88, of St. Petersburg, died Monday July 31, 2000 at Hospice House Woodside of St. Petersburg of black lung from the coalmines. A native of Braxton County, West Virginia, he came here in 1968 from there. He was a member of St. Mark?s United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg. He retired from the District 31 Local Union 1466 in West Virginia where he worked as a coal miner for 37 years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include four daughters, Shelby Doss, Oreta Stockwell, Aleta Kay Stockwell, and Gayle Stockwell of St. Petersburg, one son, Hubert Stockwell of Michigan, one sister, Rhoda Ellison of Rand, WV, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Bobbitt Chapel, St. Petersburg.
