July 18th, 1924 - April 9th, 2001
Gafford, Ray, 76, of Dearborn, MI and a winter resident of St. Petersburg for the past 25 years, died Monday April 9, 2001. He was born in Dickson County, TN which is now the city of Dover. He was a Factory Worker and an avid hunter. He served in the Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion #364 in Dearborn, MI. Locally, he was a member of the VFW Sunshine City Post #6827, the AMVETS Post #8, and attended Grace Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lois; two sons: Joseph D., Tecumseh, MI; and John R., Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Diane C. Burns, Dearborn, MI; two sisters: Jewel Petrini, Dearborn, MI; and Margaret Vega, Spring Hill, IL; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-McLeod Chapel, St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 4801-86th Avenue North, Pinellas Park, FL 33782 or to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 800 So. Military, Dearborn, MI 48124.
