Reginald J. Bush, 79, of Mt. Pleasant died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Kevin Maksym. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at Lux Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. with a vigil service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous. Envelopes are available at Lux Funeral Home. Reggie was born Nov. 2, 1925 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of Ralph and Frances (Torpey) Bush. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943-1946. On June 15, 1946 he married Irene Elizabeth Walz. Together they had four children, Joe, Tom, Pam and Marcia. After her death in 1957, he married Shirley Powell in 1960. Together they had two children, Reginald Jr. and Debra. He was also father to Shirley's three children, Frank, Bonnie and Sandra. After her death in 1986 he married Patricia Humphrey on January 15, 1987. He was employed as a Detroit Police Officer for 18 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Odd Fellows Club, and the VFW. He was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous and enjoyed spending time with fellow members. Reggie is survived by his wife Patricia; nine children, Joe (Bobbi) Bush of Alma, Thomas (Christene) Bush of Owensville, Missouri, Pam (Ronald) Mets of Clinton Township Marcia (Shawn) Gilmartin of Cooper City, Florida., Reginald (Cindy) Bush Jr. of Danville, Illinois, Debra Bush of Lake Orion, Frank (Margaret) Dodd of Rosebush, Bonnie (Joe) Bommarito of Clarkston, and Sandra (Tony) Blake of Parkland, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Maurice Bush of Hollywood, Fla.; and one sister, Mary Lois Meyers of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Liz in 1957; and his second wife, Shirley in 1986.
