Dawson, Dr. Robert L. ?Bob?, 69, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday August 2, 2001 at the family farm in Somerset, Kentucky. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, he came here in 1961 from Richmond, Virginia. He was a physician at St. Petersburg Suncoast Medical Clinic since 1964. He graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor Degree in 1957, from West Virginia University with a Master of Science Degree in 1959, and from Medical College of Virginia with a Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1961. He was board certified in the American Academy of Family Practice and Fellow, American Academy of Family Practice. He was on the Planning Committee for the Board of Trustees at Bayfront Medical Center, the Committee on Education for Florida Academy of Family Practice, Chairman of the Residency Development Committee of the Academy of Family Practice, the Membership Committee of the Academy of Family Practice, the Board of Directors of Florida Academy of Family Practice, the Public Relations Committee of the Academy of Family Practice, Vice Chief of Staff at Bayfront Medical Center, President of Suncoast Medical Clinic, on the Board of Directors of Pinellas County Medical Society, on the Board of Directors of Martin Luther Foundation, on the Committee on Pharmacy and Therapeutics at Pinellas County Medical Society, Chairman of the Mediation Committee of the Pinellas County Medical Society, President and on the Board of Directors of the Speech and Hearing Clinic, on the Standards and Credentials Committee at Sun Bay Medical Center, on the Committee for Long-Range Planning at Bayfront Medical Center, was formerly in the Engineering Department at WSAZ ATV in Hunington, West Virginia and formerly a chemist at Allied Chemical and Dye Corporation in South Point, Ohio. He was also a life member of Sertoma Club in St. Petersburg and was Sertoma Man of the Year in 1971, and a member of the Suncoasters Club. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Joyce A. Dawson, 2 sons, Robert David Dawson of Riverside, Iowa and Mark Donald Dawson of Rochester, New York, a sister, Linda Carolyn Parsons of Seminole, a brother, Charles Thurl Dawson of Macon, Georgia, a grandson, Boone Alexander Dawson of Riverside, Iowa and 2 nieces and a nephew.
