L. Harold Corbett
June 2nd, 1915 - September 10th, 2001
Corbett, L. Harold, 86, of St. Petersburg, died Monday September 10, 2001. Born in Morristown, Tennessee, he came here in 1946 from Morristown. He was a finance officer for the U.S. Veteran?s Administration for 25 years and a Navy Veteran of WWII, where he served in Europe, Africa, England, Asia and the Holy Land. Prior to his career with the Veteran?s Administration, he was a teacher in the Hamblen County School System in Tennessee and a part-time instructor in Chillicothe, and was employed by the U.S. Employee?s Compensation Commission in Washington, DC. He later transferred to the U.S. Office of Education in Washington, DC, where he was an accounting clerk and was promoted to senior auditor in 1941. He enjoyed singing, was in various choirs in Washington, DC and Florida and was a member of SPEBSQSA barber-shoppers, St. Petersburg Exchange Club, was the editor of News and Views Club Bulletin, received a Key to the City of St. Petersburg by Mayor Freeman for meritorious service as Chairman of the Budget Review Committee, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Ruth Corbett, 2 daughters, Florence Guidinger of Jackson, Michigan and Carol Fisher of Orlando, Florida, 2 brothers, Eugene Corbett of Atlanta, Georgia and Keith Corbett of Suwanee, Tennessee, a sister, Mary L. Thompson of Hood River, Oregon, 7 grandchildren, Mary Guildinger of Phoenix, Arizona, Benjamin H. Guidinger of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Amy Guidinger of Chicago, Illinois, Carrie Kietzman and Christie Fisher, both of Orlando, Florida, Casey Fisher of Tallahassee, Florida and Cady Ruth Fisher of St. Augustine, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
