June 21st, 1922 - September 30th, 2001
Boettcher, Betty Jean, 79, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday September 30, 2001 at home. Born in Princeton, MN, she came here in 1989 from Eau Claire, WI, where she was an elementary school teacher. In the late 1950?s she taught in a one-room schoolhouse in the rural area of Bloomer, WI. In 1960 through 1970, she taught at the Mann School in Eau Claire, WI, and helped her husband at the health food store that they owned and operated. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bloomer, WI. Locally, she worked at the main Public Library for 8 years and after retiring continued working there as a volunteer. She was an actively involved with the arts and literature, serving as a docent for the International Museum in St. Petersburg and a volunteer for the Mahaffey Theater of Performing Arts. She was Past President for the Widowed Social Club and attended Christ United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie B. Briggs, Washington, IL; two sons, Earl W., Holcomb, WI; and Craig R., Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren: Bart Boettcher, Menomonie, WI; Heather Duffy, Gilman, WI; Jason Briggs, Boston, MA; and Alison Briggs, Washington, IL; and two great grandchildren. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-McLeod Chapel, St. Petersburg.
