Lindsey, Laten L. ?Leroy,? 81, of 6356-38th Avenue North in St. Petersburg, died Monday December 31, 2001 at St. Anthony?s Hospital. Born in Liverpool, LA, he came here in 1940 from San Antonio, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a Police Officer with the city of St. Petersburg from 1940 until his retirement in 1960 and was one of the city?s first three wheel motorcycle policemen. He also worked for the St. Petersburg Post office for 10 years. Memberships include the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the D.A.V., the V.F.W., the AM. Vets, and the Masons. He started the Florida Little League at Woodlawn Community Center and coached for many years for children up through High School ages. Survivors include his daughter, Joyce Ann Hale, St. Petersburg; his son, William L., Palm Harbor, FL; one sister, Day Reech, Greensburg, LA; one brother, Glenn Lindsey, Monroe, LA; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
