Piper, Rev. Kenneth C., 68, of St. Petersburg, died Wednesday January 9, 2002 at St. Anthony?s Hospital. Born in Ottumwa, Iowa, he came here in 1946 from Sterling, Illinois. He was the Senior Pastor at Open Bible Tabernacle in St. Petersburg from 1979-1989, the Youth and Assistant Pastor at Open Bible Tabernacle from 1953-1979, was the Division Youth Director for the Southeast Region of Open Bible Churches from 1954-1961, the District Representative of the Southeast Region of Open Bible Churches from 1961-1968 and was currently the Regional Superintendent of the Southeast Region of Open Bible Churches since 1968 and a National Board Member of Open Bible Standard Churches in Des Moines, Iowa since 1961. He was on the Board of Directors of both Eugene Bible College in Eugene, Oregon and Florida Beacon College in Largo. He also received an Honorary Doctorate from Florida Beacon College in the year 2000. He was a Police Chaplain in St. Petersburg and coached Little League Baseball for 20 years. He traveled to Kenya, Africa and Chile and Argentina in South America on Missions trips and was the Sky Pilots Director Boys Club at Open Bible Tabernacle. Survivors include his wife of 49-1/2 years, Patricia Piper, 5 sons, David A. and Douglas P., both of St. Petersburg, Donald R. of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Daniel C. of Summerville, South Carolina, and Duane K. of Cumming, Georgia, a daughter, Denelle Sheridon of Kingsport, Tennessee, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
