Theodore Ted'' Wright Griggs
November 26th, 1914 - January 20th, 2002
Griggs, Theodore Wright II, ?Ted,? 87, of St. Petersburg and formerly of Tampa, died Sunday January 20, 2002 at Westminster Shores Health Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in St. Paul, MN and graduated from Yale University in 1937 with a Bachelor?s Degree in History. He went on to serve as a B-29 Navigator during WWII with the United States Army Air Corps. He was a 46 year resident of Tampa, moving there in 1955 from St. Paul, MN. He was President of Plant Industries in Plant City, FL until 1971. He moved to St. Petersburg in June of 2001. He was a founding parent of Berkeley Preparatory School and a former President of their Dad?s Club. He was one of the founders and a former President of the Yale Club of Tampa Bay. He was a member of the Tampa Yacht and Country Club and the St. Petersburg Country Club. He was a member of St. John?s Episcopal Church in Tampa. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joan Wyeth; four sons: T. W., ?Toby?, II, Belleville, IL; John W., Reston, VA; Stephen B., Tampa, FL; James M.S., Titusville, FL; and daughter, France Griggs-Sloat, Cincinnati, OH; one brother, C.E. Bayliss Griggs, Santa Barbara, CA; 14 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Alzheimer?s Association, 9365 US Hwy 19 N., Suite B, Pinellas Park, FL 33782 or to the charity of their choice.
