George C. Broun

Broun, Dr. George C., 84, of Gulfport, died Friday February 15, 2002 at home under hospice care. Born in Edmonton, Alberta Canada he was raised in Athens, Greece, where he attended the University of Athens School of Medicine. He served in the Greek Army as a medical officer during WWII and the Greek Civil War. He became a board certified psychiatrist after immigrating to the United States. A longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, New York, he worked for the State of New York until he retired in 1991. Survivors include his wife, Lucy; one son, Byron , Gulfport, FL; one daughter, Elena Kay, Acworth, Ga; one brother, Creon Broun, Ormond Beach, FL; four sisters, Ellie, Evie, Marina, and Laura, all of Athens, Greece; and two grandsons.
