Getchis, Hillard, 84, of St. Petersburg, died Friday, April 19, 2002. He was born in Linden, New Jersey and came here in 2001 from Mountain Side, New Jersey. He was owner and president of Clark Lumber and Clark Music Industries, both of Clark, New Jersey. He was an Army veteran of WWII, was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal in both tours of duty and a Diploma of Honor. He was a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Marines and a member of St. Raphael?s Catholic Church, past president of the Kiwanis in Clark, New Jersey, Chairman of the Fox Hallow Golf Club, Old Guard of Westfield, New Jersey, member of the Merrymen of the Merchant Marines and Federation Des Anciens Combattants Francais. Survivors include his wife, Mary Catherine of St. Petersburg; a son, Philip C. of Stockton, New Jersey; 2 daughters, Joanne Hartlaub of New York, New York and Mary Alice Bolline of St. Petersburg; and five grandchildren. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes and Cremation Tribute Center ? Ninth Street Chapel.
