Cunningham, Thomas R., 55, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday, August 11, 2002 at Bay Pines Veteran?s Medical Center. Born in Staten Island, New York, he moved to St. Petersburg in 1986. He was an employee of Bay Pines Veteran?s Medical Center for 15 years and was a highly decorated veteran serving with the U.S. Army 4th Infantry during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 273 of Madeira Beach and a lifetime member of DAV Chapter 9. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Debra; a son, Jason Cunningham, St. Petersburg; two daughters, Jessica Cunningham, St. Petersburg and Cathy Watola, Staten Island, NY; two sisters, Elizabeth ?Betty? Bahr, New Port Richey, FL and Carol Adams, St. Petersburg; a brother, Vincent Cunningham, St. Petersburg and a granddaughter. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to Bay Pines VAMC Hospice Unit Ward 4B, P.O. Box 505, Bay Pines, FL 33744.
