Dunn, Mary Brooks, of St. Petersburg, died Monday Sept. 9, 2002 at home. Born in Denver, CO, she resided there for three years before moving to Flora, IL. She graduated from Saint Luke?s Medical Center School of Nursing in Chicago, IL with a R.N. degree. Afterwards, majoring in anesthesiology, she did postgraduate work at Ravenswood Medical Center, and also at Cook County Hospital. She moved to Lakeland in the early 1950?s and then to St. Petersburg in 1961. She worked at Bayfront Medical Center for seventeen years. From 1978 to 1981, she worked at St. Anthony?s Hospital as a nurse anesthetist. She later became a private anesthetist until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg and was active in the Princess Hirrihigua chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, the Rose Pasno Opera Guild and the Florida Orchestra Guild. She served on the board of directors of the Bay Area Civic Opera Association. Survivors include a son, Dr. Verne A. Schwager, Chicago, IL; and a cousin. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions in her name to the Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 300 E. Bay Dr., Largo, FL 33770.
