October 14th, 1915 - October 31st, 2002
Scott, Harry William, 87, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday October 31, 2002 at College Harbor Retirement Community and Nursing Center. Mr. Scott was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and moved to St. Petersburg with his family when he was five years old. He served as a Sergeant with the U. S. Army Air Corps in Burma, India, and China during WWII. He retired in 1986 as Postmaster of St. Petersburg after 40 years with the Postal Service. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Northside Lodge formerly Sunshine Lodge. He was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church. He was a community activist and former president of the Kiwanis Club. Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Lee Gould, Tallahassee, FL; a son, Richard G. Scott, St. Petersburg; a brother, George Scott, St. Petersburg; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-Ninth Street Chapel.
