Bell, Bernard, Thomas MD., 91, of St. Petersburg died Friday, November 8, 2002 at Edward White Hospital. He was born in Dozier, Alabama and came to St. Petersburg in 1949 from Miami. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Medical School. He was a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy and a flight surgeon during World War II. He owned and operated Bell & Bell MD?S P.A. from 1949 until he retired in 1997. He was a life member of the American Medical Association, a life member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the St. Petersburg Rotary club since 1960, he was Ophthalmology Chairman at St. Anthony?s Hospital from 1960 ? 1980, and he was an avid fisherman . He is survived by one son, Thomas G. Bell MD, St. Petersburg, three daughters, Eileen Arey, Atlanta, Georgia, Marti Macon, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Nancy Scarnecchia, Hollywood, Florida, a sister, Mary Helen Clarke, Miami, Florida, and five grandchildren.
